Tour Overview

A small group highlight tour with up to a maximum of 11 passengers specifically designed for cruise passengers visiting the Bay of Islands. A relaxing and informative tour visiting all of the key landmarks with wine tasting and time for lunch (at own expense)

A small group Bay of Islands tour (maximum 11 passengers). As the Bay of Islands is a tender port it is often difficult to come ashore in a timely manner. With a 10.00 am departure from Waitangi where the cruise ships tender, there will be no issues should you be delayed due to tendering.

On departing Waitangi the excursion will head towards  Kerikeri citrus capital of NZ & wine growing region.

Our first visit is to BOI Honey Shop

Enjoy an informative visit with the bee-keeper  into  NZ’s biggest beehive see thru the glass the bees at work

learn about the nature and life cycle of the honey bee. Tasting a variety of honey extracted right here in the BOI  including New Zealand’s top Manuka Honey. Browse thru the shop and have a test of some of their  100% natural organic skincare range.

Onward to Makana Confections Chocolate factory – who have been delivering the best hand-made chocolates to locals and visitors for over 25years.  Try a sample and view into the kitchen where the chocolates are being made. Maybe you will be tempted…

At the Kauri Workshop & Gifts the owner has spent a lifetime designing and creating beautiful home-wares from NZ’s magnificent native timbers and NZ Kauri : living for over 2,000yrs & SWAMP KAURI buried by an act of nature at the end of the last Ice Age, preserved in perfect condition; carbon dated up to 50,000yrs   You will be WOW’ed!

For over 20yrs Marsden Estate Winery has been producing award winning wines & you will tasting  a range of these some varieties only grown in northland. Known for its courtyard dining space overlooking the lake and vines is where you can enjoy lunch (your own cost).

From lunch we head thru the township down to the Historic Stone Store Mission Station by the Kerikeri River : Kemp House & The Stone Store (built 1836)  see a range of authentic goods of the era and NZ souvenirs.  Embrace the peace and tranquility of this area, the bird life and nature’s surround.

Heading back to the tender wharf we make a stop at Haruru Falls & the Scenic Lookout viewing out towards the islands of the bay and your ship in the harbour.

The excursion is timed so we will have you back in Waitangi for your return tender in plenty of time prior to the cruise ships departure.
